Green Schools

Green-Schools is an international environmental education programme, offering a well-defined, controllable way for schools to take environmental issues from the curriculum and apply them to the day-to-day running of their school. The St. Paul’s College Green Schools Committee is made up of students who want to make our school a cleaner and greener place. We are passionate about improving the working environment within our school and for the whole community. Our goal is to become as sustainable as possible and push St. Paul’s College forward as one of the leading green schools in Dublin.

With a group of 1st to 5th year students working on the committee, we have managed to achieve three flags already as part of the programme. Our current flags are under the themes of Litter & Waste, Energy, and Water. We are currently working towards our fourth flag under the theme of Transport. We are running campaigns in school to encourage students and staff to travel to school more sustainably. In addition to this we continue to work on our previous flags and we have some really exciting events and projects to look forward to in the future. This includes installing solar panels on the school, installing higher quality water fountains and ensuring that every class in the school has new green and black bins to separate their rubbish.

The students involved in this programme make a huge difference to the school community and develop a large range of essential skills with their participation in the programme. I am so proud to work with these environmentally conscientious students and their desire to make the world a better place for all.
