Parent Support

Dear Chairperson,

I am writing to you on behalf of the Bull Island Action Group. All of us who live in this part of Dublin are well aware that we have the wonderful amenities of North Bull Island and Dollymount Strand on our doorstep.

However, parts of the island and the beach can become very heavily littered. Some litter is discarded inconsiderately, but a great deal more is wind-blown or carried onto the beach by the tide twice a day. The most effective way to deal with this problem is to collect and remove the accumulated litter on a regular basis.

Active now for several years, our group organises a beach clean-up on the third Saturday of every month. We start at 11.00am and we work for two hours. We provide litter pickers, gloves and rubbish bags. Dublin City Council provides a tractor and trailer to haul away we collect.

As this is New Year's Resolution time, may I appeal to your Parents' Association to bring our request for additional volunteers to the attention of your school community. They will all get some fresh air and a bit of exercise as well as giving us some much needed help!

The dates for our forthcoming activities are 21st January, 18th

February, 17th March, 21st April, 19th May and 16th June. Our meeting point is the beach entrance just past Royal Dublin Golf Club.
