The Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (LCVP) is also available as an option in 5th year.

LCVP is a Senior Cycle Programme of the Department of Education and Science, designed to give a strong vocational dimension to the Leaving Certificate (established). The programme combines the virtues of academic study with a new and dynamic focus on self-directed learning, enterprise, work and the community.

 

Young people taking the LCVP have a unique opportunity to develop their interpersonal, vocational and technological skills. These skills are equally relevant to the needs of of those preparing for further education, seeking employment or planning to start their own business.The LCVP is funded by the Department of Education and Science under the National Development Plan.

Requirements for the Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme which is of two years duration, are as follows:  L.C.V.P. students must take a minimum of five Leaving Certificate subjects (at Higher, Ordinary or Foundation level) including Irish and ONE other Modern European Language.

 

Two of the subjects must be selected from one of the designated Vocational Subject Groupings.

 

Vocational  Subject Groupings

 Specalist Groupings

  1. Accounting or Business or Economics (any two)
  2. Physics with Chemistry
  3. Biology with Chemistry or Physics

 Service Groupings

  1. Art with Business or Accounting or Economics
  2. Music with Business or Accounting or Economics

 

They Must study the two Link Modules, namely

        Preparation for the World of Work.

        Enterprise Education.
