Student Council
A Student Council is a representative structure for students only, through which they can become involved in the affairs of the school, working in partnership with school management, staff and parents for the benefit of the school and its students. Usually the student council works with a teacher, who is the link person between students and staff and management in the school.

Christmas Work

The Students Council, helped to organise our annual Christmas appeal for the Vincent de Paul Society, the Summer Ethiopian Project and the Homeless.

We were unsure of the turnout levels for the Christmas eve bag packing in Nolan’s Supermarket, but the students turned up trumps on the day. Due to the efforts of the students council, the choir, the students who packed bags along with the staff and parents, we collected over € 2,900.  It is a credit to each individual who helped out on the day and can only be reflected by the joy of the families who are struggling during these difficult times.  We have received a letter of thanks from the St. Vincent De Paul conference in Killester, in which the President of the conference Mr. Curran has informed us that the donations made have brought relief to many.

We are very  proud to be part of the ‘mentoring system’ for the first year students. It is a great success as our new students have settled into their new environment and their confidence has grown as they know they are bring looked after.

Special thanks must be given to Mr. Hayden, a father of one of our students, who has helped the council re-organize itself and given up many of his Wednesdays to help us, with nothing asked for in return. We look forward to helping out with the Annual charity Show in the coming months and other fundraisers for our various projects.  Finally we wish the 3rd and 6th years the best of luck with their forthcoming exams and we know they will do themselves and the school proud.
