Choir & Music

Choir

Our school choir rehearses every Friday at lunchtime. All students from 1st – 6th Year are welcome to join.

The choir has performed at the Sligo Choral Festival, Emmanuel Concerts in the Helix Theatre, Waltons New School of Music Competitions, School Assemblies, Graduations and our annual Carol Service and Summer Concerts.

Soloists from our school choir have had the opportunity to sing live on RTE Mass on Sunday.

Choir is a great opportunity for different year groups to perform together and make life-long friendships.

Listen to us at the Sligo Choral Festival!

The school choir and band were Highly Commended at the Waltons School of Music Competitions in 2019 and 2018.

Instrumental Players

St. Paul’s College has a strong tradition of instrumental players – All of our concerts and performances are accompanied by our own live musicians.

We have strong connections with the Artane School of Music, RIAM and many other local musicians in the area. Many of our music students continue on to study Music at 3rd Level.

Musicals

As part of our Transition Year Programme, we stage an annual musical with local girls invited to audition for the show.

Our recent productions of Grease (2009), West Side Story (2010), Back to the 80’s (2012), Raheny Rhapsody (2013), Fame (2014), Les Miserables (2015), Thank You For The Music (2016), Jesus Christ Superstar (2017), Footloose (2018), All Shook Up (2019) and Hairspray (2020) have all proved hugely successful and popular with both cast and audiences.

Transition Year is about getting involved in something different, exploring hidden talents and simply making new friends. Ask any of our previous cast members and they will almost certainly agree that the TY Musical was by far their greatest experience in Transition Year, if not their entire Secondary schooling.
